Investor Dialogue: Investing in the Cultural and Creative Industries

Speaking

26 October 2026
11:15–12:20 · Doha time

Mashael Alnaimi is a fashion and textile designer and the founder of Mhefhef, an eco-fashion house established in Doha in 2020. Guided by a “dressing healthy” ethos, her work is rooted in the belief that clothing should be as kind to the body as it is to the earth. Crafted entirely from natural, sustainable materials including upcycled materials, handwoven fabrics, and plant-based dyes

Mashael’s designs are inseparable from her Arabic heritage. She works with artisans from marginalized communities — women, people with disabilities, and those affected by conflict — transforming handwoven fabrics into singular canvases for ancestral textile arts: hand-blocking, hand-painting, natural dyeing, shibori, eco-printing, and upcycling. Among her most pioneering contributions is the development of permanent henna painting on fabric, a technique she introduced to international audiences at Qatar Fashion United in 2022.

Her collections have been exhibited at the Museum of Islamic Art and the National Museum of Qatar, where her handwoven Tusar silk reinterpretation of the traditional Bisht — inspired by the architectural grandeur of Morocco’s Kasbah Gate — was presented as part of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture. In 2023, she shared her sustainable fashion journey in a TED in Arabic talk, and in January 2026, she was featured in Vogue Arabia.
