Dr. Mohamed Althaf

Dr. Mohamed Althaf, the Group Director for Global Operations and Chief Sustainability Leader of LuLu Group International, leads a vastly diversified global enterprise. The Group, renowned for its 299 state-of-the-art hypermarkets and 34 shopping malls, is on a continuous path of international expansion. At its core, LuLu Group prides itself on a multicultural workforce, boasting over 73,000 employees from 43 different nationalities.   He also serves as the Group's Director for the overseas supply chain, overseeing several international branches, including Y International (UK) Ltd. in Birmingham, Y International USA Inc. in New Jersey, Y International Espana Consolidated Exports SL. in Madrid, Y International (Australia) Pty Ltd. in Melbourne, Y International Poland, and Y International Canada.   Holding Indian nationality, Dr. Althaf is a distinguished alumnus of the University of Delhi and the Saïd Business School at Oxford University. He has qualifications in Law, Intellectual Property Rights, and Management.   His professional interests encompass innovations in retail, circular economics, supply chain resilience, sustainable food systems, and the intertwining of international economics and politics. As the Chief Sustainability Officer, he drives LuLu Group's commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable business practices and is responsible for the Group's commitment to a sustainable food system.   He is a member of various retail and international business forums, namely the World Economic Forum, World Retail Forum, Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC), The Institute of Export and International Trade, UK, Qatar British Business Forum (QBBF), British Chamber of Commerce Qatar (BCCQ), American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), US-Qatar Business Council (USQBC), Spanish Business Council, Swiss Business Council, Qatar International Chamber of Commerce (QICC), Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA), and Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI).   Dr. Althaf is also an invitee and guest speaker at the SelectUSA Investment Summit in Washington, D.C., World Economic Forum, World Retail Forum, The Institute of Export & International Trade, UK, Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, UK, Indiaspora, and various exclusive workshops and seminars organized by the U.S. Commercial Service.
