Paula Gianserra: Scaling Ecosystem Regeneration Through Nature Tech"
Paula Gianserra is an Industrial Engineer and co-founder of ReForest Latam, where she serves as Chief Operating Officer, leading the operational strategy and scaling of ecosystem restoration across Latin America. Her work bridges science, technology, and business, coordinating interdisciplinary teams to transform scientific knowledge into scalable solutions.
With a background in agribusiness and operational process management, Paula brings a systemic vision oriented toward building regenerative, efficient, and scalable models. In 2023, she co-founded ReForest Latam together with Damián Rivadeneira.
ReForest Latam is a Nature Tech company that combines biotechnology, drones, and ecosystem analysis to regenerate native forests at scale. Over 300 million hectares in Latin America are degraded. Traditional reforestation methods are costly and labor-intensive, making restoration unfeasible in remote or hard-to-access areas. We improve ecosystem integrity by restoring their capacity to provide ecosystem goods and services while reducing nature-related risks.
Our proprietary Assisted Natural Regeneration (ANR) platform reduces restoration costs by 65% and makes native restoration viable where it previously wasn't: remote, complex, or hard-to-access landscapes where manual planting can't reach. We deploy biodegradable seed capsules enhanced with biotechnology, significantly improving root development and germination rates. We have validated over 6 native species from our laboratory, enabling us to adapt restoration strategies to different environmental conditions. Dispersed via drone technology - 20x faster than traditional methods - each intervention is guided by satellite ecosystem diagnostics and AI-powered design, validated through field monitoring.
ReForest Latam is operating across 4 countries and 7 distinct ecoregions with different environmental conditions, and we are expanding into 1 additional country in 2026. With new projects planned for 2026 and contracts scaling to 600+ hectares in 2027, the platform demonstrates the viability of regenerative approaches at scale.
"Not restoring is already an economic decision. Nature is not a cost to mitigate—it is the infrastructure that sustains the region's economy."
