H.E. Prof. Ruwan Ranasinghe

Professor Ruwan Ranasinghe, Deputy Minister of Tourism, is a leading academic and tourism strategist in Sri Lanka. A First-Class graduate of Rajarata University (2004), he holds an MBA (2012) and a Doctorate from Sichuan University, China (2017). In 2009, he launched Sri Lanka's first Tourism and Hospitality Management degree at Uva Wellassa University, later endorsed by the UNWTO. He bas shaped national tourism policy, notably contributing to the NPP's sustainable, inclusive tourism strategy. He has led major initiatives, including LKR 1,000 million in World Bank-funded projects and Sri Lanka's involvement in the EU-funded SES TOUR program. With over 1,000 academic citations, he ranks among the nation's top tourism resear€Aers. As ll)eputy Minister, he focuses on sustainable tourism, innovation, and global partnerships to elevate Sri Lanka as a premier international destination.
