Biography
Ángela Pérez is COFIDES’ Chairperson and CEO since July 8th, 2024.
In her thirty-five years of professional experience, she has specialized in the management of financial and investment operations in international markets.
She has extensive experience in wholesale and investment banking. At the beginning of her career at Barclays Group in 1988, Ángela participated for two years in London in the Management Development Programme, an in-house training program for "High Flyers". Subsequently, upon her return to Spain, she held senior positions at BZW, an investment bank of the Barclays group, first as head of the project finance team in Spain and later as an expert in the energy sector in the corporate finance team. In her last two years with the group, she was responsible for coverage of large corporate clients in Spain in the energy, telecommunications and infrastructure sectors at Barclays Capital.
In 2000, Ángela joined COFIDES, where she worked for ten years, holding the position of Chief Investment Officer. She was also a member of the board of directors of several investee companies.
Since 2010 and until her appointment as COFIDES’ Chairperson, Ángela worked at Elecnor Group, as Head of project financial structuring and asset management at Elecnor Servicios y Proyectos. During this period she managed operations in different geographies, with particular emphasis on his extensive experience in Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America. During this time Angela gained an in-depth knowledge of multilateral agencies and development finance institutions as well as the various official export and investment support instruments worldwide.
She has extensive experience in ESG matters, not only from a practical point of view—developed through the management of impact studies, due diligence processes, and the creation of ESG management plans for specific projects—but also as a member of the Elecnor Group's Sustainability Committee. Additionally, she has served on the Advisory Board of the Elecnor Foundation.
Ángela Pérez holds a degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a diploma in the PADE Program from the IESE Business School of the University of Navarra.
