SESRIC-UNCTAD Regional Seminar on FDI Statistics in OIC Member Countries

Tuesday, 27 October 2026 10:00 – 13:00 · Doha time Salwa 1 · Doha, Qatar

in collaboration with Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC)

Reliable data are essential for conducting comprehensive analyses of the impact of globalization on sustainable economic development and for informing effective policy formulation. Despite progress in this area, the quality and availability of FDI data in several developing countries, particularly OIC least developed countries, remain insufficient to support robust policy analysis.

The Regional Seminar will discuss the latest developments in investment statistics and FDI data compilation, as well as complementary datasets that can strengthen the interpretation and analysis of FDI data. It will also address key challenges faced by developing countries in compiling and reporting investment trends.

To address these issues, the United Nations Trade and Development (UNCTAD), in partnership with the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), will jointly host a session on FDI statistics and multinational enterprise (MNE) activities in OIC countries.
