About this session
The reform of the international investment regime has been gaining momentum since 2012, yet the core of the IIA regime – composed of thousands of old-generation agreements that do not streamline sustainability imperatives – continues to dominate the investment policy landscape. Reform efforts are hindered by fragmented approaches at various levels of policymaking, and by increased complexity of the issues covered in IIAs. Experts will share their experience on most effective paths and key considerations in their IIA reform efforts towards a sustainable and coherent international investment regime. Against this backdrop, the High-level IIA Conference will launch the UN Trade and Development Guiding Principles for IIA Reform.
