BIOGRAPHY

Mohammed Omran is a Professor of Finance at the Graduate School of Business, Arab Academy for Science and Technology.  

Prior to his current job, he was the Executive Chairman and Chair of the Board of the Financial Regulatory Authority for 5 years from 2017-2022, and the Executive Chairman and Chair of the Board of the Egyptian Stock Exchange for around 6 years from 2011-2017. He was Vice Chairman for Operation of the Insurance Holding Company for one year and the Vice Chairman of the Egyptian Stock Exchange for four years from 2006-2010. 

Professor Omran holds BSc and MSc in Business Administration from Cairo University and Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Plymouth, UK. He was a Visiting Scholar and Visiting Professor in several research and academic institutions such as University of Plymouth, University of Oklahoma, the World Bank, University of Laval, HEC Montréal and Vaasa University. He severed several years as an Economist at both the Arab Monetary Fund in Abu Dhabi and the International Monetary Fund in Washington D.C. He was an advisor to the Egyptian Minister of Investment and an Acting Executive Director of the Egyptian Institute of Directors.
