BIOGRAPHY
Ms. Ismahane Elouafi serves as Chief Scientist at the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), a vital leadership role. Formerly Director General at the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture, she showcased vision by broadening its focus on marginal environments, a concept she globally promoted. Beyond research, she advises esteemed organizations like the International Food Policy Research Institute and shapes food systems' future through roles such as the Scientific Group for the 2021 UN Food Systems Summit. Her dedication to neglected crops, innovative food systems, and women's empowerment in science is acknowledged with awards like the National Reward Medal from King Mohamed VI and the Excellence in Science Award.
