Ms. Irene Madsen 

Irene Madsen is Deputy Head of Unit at Eurostat and Team Leader for annual FDI statistics. She had a leading role in the European Commission’s pilot studies on annual FDI statistics based on the ultimate ownership concept and FDI statistics distinguishing Greenfield FDI transactions from takeovers.  She is also engaged in international work on developing FDI statistics including the update of the Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual and the OECD’s Benchmark Definition of Foreign Direct Investment. Further, she is a member of the Bureau at the OECD’s Working Group on International Investment Statistics. Irene Madsen holds a Master’s degree in mathematics and economics.
