Mr. Tamas Vattai

Tamás Vattai is an Economist at the FAO Regional Office for Near East and North Africa responsible for trade, investment, and nutrition-related issues. He was the lead on the FAO report "Near East and North Africa – Regional Overview of Food Security and Nutrition 2022," which focuses on how trade can enable food security in the region. He also developed the quarterly "Food Policy Monitoring Bulletin" for the region. Earlier, he was a trade and agriculture diplomat, chaired the WTO Customs Valuations and Services Trade Committees and was Deputy Permanent Representative of Hungary to the WTO. He worked in EU trade and agriculture policies and was co-chair of the Commodities Working Group of the EU Council.
