Mr. Monga Mehlwana

Mongameli Mehlwana has been the Senior Economic Officer in the Energy and Infrastructure Services Section in the Private Sector Development and Finance Division of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) since 2011. Prior, he was the Competency Area Manager of the Resource-Based Sustainable Development at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research Centre (CSIR), South Africa – and was instrumental in the establishment of the CSIR Energy Research Centre. He has over 28 years in the energy sector, particularly in efforts that support increased energy access, promoting the deployment of sustainable energy options, and assisting African member States in designing robust policies for the energy sector’s growth. At ECA, Monga has led several initiatives and programmes to enable an environment to increase investments in clean energy and private sector participation in infrastructure development on the continent. He currently leads the public-private partnerships initiative of the ECA.
