Mr. Massimo Meloni
BIOGRAPHY
Massimo Meloni is senior investment policy expert in the Division on Investment and Enterprise of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
Within UNCTAD, Mr. Meloni coordinates the national investment policy research programme, authors the policy trends chapter of the World Investment Reports and provides expert advice to governments on economic policies for sustainable development, particularly as they relate to improving the legal and regulatory framework for investment and enterprise development.
Mr. Meloni was responsible for the preparation of several Investment Policy Reviews for developing countries and economies in transition. He led and was key author of the Investment Policy Reviews of Armenia, Brazil, Nigeria, the Dominican Republic, Belarus, Guatemala and Mongolia, and of the regional Investment Policy Review of South-East Europe. Mr. Meloni also implemented several follow-up technical assistance programmes to support governments improve specific aspects of the investment climate, including tax policy reform, the regulation of different economic sectors, the opening of One-Stop-Shop centres or the upgrading the investment legislation.
Before joining UNCTAD, Mr. Meloni worked as data analyst in the policy monitoring and evaluation department of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
Mr. Meloni holds a master’s degree in International Economics from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva.
