BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Wilson C.K. Phiri is an Assistant Director in charge of the Macroeconomic Analysis Division at the Bank of Zambia. He is also an accredited fellow of the Macroeconomic and Financial Management Institute for Eastern and Southern Africa (MEFMI) – speciallised in Foreign Private Capital Monitoring and Analysis. He has over 16 years of experience in compilation and analysis Balance of Payments, International Investment Position and related statistics.

He has provided technical assistance(TA) to the Southern Africa Development Community, the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa and MEFMI member states in the area of Balance of Payments, International Investment Position, International Trade in Services, Foreign Affiliates Statistics and Foreign Private Capital monitoring and analysis. He has also undertaken in-country TA missions to central banks and statistics agencies including Kenya, Seychelles, Rwanda, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and Tanzania.
Dr Phiri is also a member of the IMF Balance of Payments Committee, as well as the Balance of Payments and Direct Investment Task Teams. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Master of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of Zambia, and a PhD in Economics from the University of Lusaka.
