Special economic zones (SEZs) continue to be developed across the world. Mobilizing global support for SEZs and maximizing their contribution to sustainable development requires a concerted effort by key players in the SEZ community. Collectively, SEZs can be more effective in modernization and policy advocacy. CEOs and executives of SEZs and the business community as well as high level policymakers will come together during this session to discuss the pressing current and emerging issues including incentives, tax reforms and the regulatory framework for investment.
This session is organized in partnership with the Global Alliance of Special Economic Zones (GASEZ), established in 2022 by UNCTAD together with seven global, regional and national associations representing over 7,000 SEZs. The alliance is dedicated to advancing a new generation of special economic zones for sustainable development.
