From Minerals to Value: Mobilizing Investment for Economic Transformation

Africa's critical mineral endowments offer significant opportunities to attract FDI, expand local and regional value addition and support economic diversification. Yet translating mineral potential and ambitions for value addition into investable projects and productive capacity remains a major challenge across the continent. This implementation-oriented roundtable will examine how critical minerals investment partnerships can work in practice, bringing together investment policy and facilitation, project development, finance and local productive capacity. Drawing on experiences from across Africa, including ongoing work in Madagascar, the discussion will seek to develop practical recommendations for building investable project pipelines, mobilizing FDI and complementary finance, and strengthening the local capabilities needed for value addition and economic transformation.
