Energy security has returned to the top of the global economic agenda. Recent energy crises have exposed supply vulnerabilities and intensified price volatility. At the same time, the accelerating impacts of climate change make continued reliance on carbon-intensive energy increasingly costly and unsustainable.
The challenge is therefore to build a new energy system that is secure, affordable, reliable and sustainable. For all economies, it means investing in renewables, grids, storage, energy efficiency and the technologies needed to support increasingly electrified economies.
This plenary will explore how countries can reconcile energy security with the transition to a sustainable energy future, and how governments, investors and development finance institutions can work together to finance this transformation.
