Beyond GDP for Sustainable Progress

As countries confront growing economic, social and environmental pressures, GDP alone cannot capture the full value—or long-term consequences—of investment decisions. Building on the Pact for the Future, the UN Secretary-General’s Counting What Counts report and initiatives such as the Sevilla Global Alliance on Beyond GDP, this plenary will explore how measures of wellbeing, resilience, sustainability, inclusion and intergenerational equity can inform policy and capital allocation. Bringing together governments, international organizations, business leaders and young people, the session will examine how the Beyond GDP agenda can move from measurement to action—directing investment towards sustainable prosperity for people and planet.
