BIOGRAPHY

Nevena Alexandrova-Stefanova holds a diverse academic background, including a B.Sc. in Molecular Biology, M.Sc. degrees in Plant Molecular Biology and Physiology, Pedagogy, and a PhD in marker-assisted plant biotechnologies. With over a decade of experience, she has worked extensively as a researcher, project manager, science communicator, and extensionist in agricultural biotechnologies and biosafety. Serving as the Head of the Bulgarian Science Communication Center, she utilized foresight methodologies to build consensus and long-term strategic visions in agrifood innovation. Nevena spent 10 years at FAO, specializing in Agricultural Innovation Systems and Knowledge Sharing, and 5 years at FAO Headquarters as part of the Office of Innovation, focusing on policy advice and innovation approaches for sustainable technologies, digital strategies, and transformative advisory services. She actively contributes to UN Future Labs as the FAO alternate focal point and leads global foresight studies on advisory services transformation and emerging agrifood technologies.
