BIOGRAPHY

Bénédicte Garbil is Senior VP of Carbios, corporate affairs and sustainability since October 2023.  

Carbios is a public French company in the field of biochemistry, pioneer in the biorecycling of platics. It has developed an enzymatic recycling process that uses an enzyme capable of specifically depolymerizing the PET. In April 2020 Carbios gained attention due to an article in Nature which explained how a hydrolase enzyme designed by Carbios enabled to recycle 90% of all PET plastic waste within 10 hours.   

Bénédicte Garbil began her career as an advisor in public affairs, then within the French Federation of the Health Industries. She joined a French pharmaceutical laboratory as Director of Public Affairs.  

In 2013, Bénédicte Garbil choose to join the public service by becoming head of the Health, Biotech and Agrifood Industries Office at the General Directorate of Enterprises (DGE), before joining the General Commissariat for Investment (CGI) from 2014 to 2017 as Health & Biotech Deputy Director.  

During her time in the French administration, she has acquired expertise in the field of public policies and funding for innovative projects. She participated in the creation of public funding schemes supported by the French Investment Program for the Future (PIA). 

After her experience in the public sector, Bénédicte joined Edwards Lifesciences, the world leader in heart valves, as General Manager France, a position she held for 4 years. She then created consultancy company to support biotech and healthcare companies in developing innovative projects, from valorization strategies to market access, through industrial development in France.  

Bénédicte Garbil is a graduate of Sciences Po Lille. She also holds a master’s degree in health law and a university degree in pharmacoeconomy.
