BIOGRAPHY

Omid Kassiri is the Managing Partner, East Africa, for McKinsey & Co. He is responsible for Kenya and Ethiopia offices and overlooks the Firms activities across the region. With a strong geographic focus, he works with private, public and social sector clients across a variety of sectors and topics including growth, investment, digital & analytics transformation and impact delivery. He works with the most significant local and multi-national companies in the region and all of the regional PE players. In his direct work with the Government, he led the teams that developed Kenya’s Industrial strategy, Agricultural transformation plan and supported the Government’s Covid response through two Ministerial crisis.

Omid has extensive pre-McKinsey experience across the agriculture and food systems sector: He co-founded an ag-tech entity in primary agriculture and distribution in Kenya, established a food supply chain operation in South Sudan and was a founding investor of a 5,500-hectare farm near Lubumbashi, DRC. He was also a co-developer of a 75-megawatt solar park in South Africa. He currently serves on the Advisory Board for One Acre Fund in Kenya.

Omid is an author of Lions on the Move 2 as well as a report on the relationship of China and Africa – the Dance of the Lions and Dragons.

He is a member of the Tutu Fellows and of the African Leadership Institute (under the Aspen Global Leadership Network).
