Mr. Glenn Barklie

Glenn Barklie is principal economist, Investment Monitor and head of FDI services at GlobalData. He writes about FDI and economic development issues, with a focus on data-related studies. As head of FDI services, he primarily works with investment promotion agencies throughout the world supporting them with data-led insights and content strategy for marketing outreach. 

He has eighteen years’ experience in economic development working with investment promotion agencies and governments to support inward investment initiatives. Glenn has built and/or managed FDI, company and economic databases. He has managed or been a senior consultant on 75+ FDI and location benchmarking assignments, including some of the largest and most advanced FDI research projects undertaken.

Prior to joining GlobalData, he worked at the Financial Times fDi Intelligence division as head of benchmarking services. He was responsible for the company’s location benchmark tool as well as FDI rankings and client reports. He holds a BSc in Economics from Queen’s University Belfast.
