BIOGRAPHY

Ahmed Al Farid is the Director for Economic Statistics of the GCC-STAT in the Sultanate of Oman. The Department of Economic Statistics, which Ahmed Al Farid is in charge of, includes the main priority statistical fields in economic statistics: National Accounts, Monetary and Financial Statistics, Foreign Investment Statistics, Prices and Short-term Indicators, Foreign Trade Statistics - both in Goods (IMTS) and Services (SITS), GCC Common Market Statistics, as well as a newly established project on Measuring E-Commerce and Digital Economy. He received his Master's in Economics in 2005 from Hull University, United Kingdom. Before joining the GCC-Stat in 2014, Mr. Al Farid worked as the Director of the Statistics Department of the GCC Secretariat in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, from 2007 to 2014, and before that, as the Director of the Department of Internal and Foreign Trade Statistics at the Ministry of National Economy, Sultanate of Oman, from 1996-2007.
