BIOGRAPHY

Melissa Vergara-Fernández is an economist and philosopher of economics and finance. She is Assistant Professor of Business Ethics at the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Groningen and also works as postdoctoral researcher in the “Dynamics of Inclusive Prosperity” Initiative at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Her research focusses on two main areas. First, the history and philosophy of finance, specifically the development of asset pricing models and the ways in which their development has both shaped and been shaped by the financial industry. Second, the energy transition from a historical perspective and with a special focus on the challenges faced by the mining industry. She is an elected member of the executive board of the International Network for Economic Method (INEM) and the executive committee of the Latin American Association for the History of Economic Thought (ALAHPE).
