As countries prepare to implement international and regional agreements on investment facilitation, what national-level lessons can be learned from the successful implementation of WTO’s Trade Facilitation Agreement and specifically the use of digital tools?

How can governments avoid bottlenecks and ensure adoption and full implementation of investment facilitation agreements? What steps can be taken to gain support from across government and the private sector for administrative simplification? How can approaches be harmonised between trade and investment practitioners?

The session will present the linkages between investment facilitation and trade facilitation as they go hand in hand in a national development strategy, and bring together leaders with practical experience in the field for a hands-on discussion.

Session themes:

  • How trade and Investment facilitation are linked.
  • What are the lessons learnt of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement?
  • What are the existing digital tools to help assist both traders and investors?
