A new landscape of sustainability reporting is emerging, as major international standards are currently being formulated at the global and regional levels, and companies and stakeholders increasingly seek to record and report the social and environmental impact of business operations. For family businesses worldwide, sustainability reporting demonstrates their contribution to the SDGs and serves as a catalyst for innovation and competitiveness.

In this session, we will hear from leading family businesses about their journey towards sustainability and transparency, including through the use of a set of core sustainability indicators for family business (SIFB) within the FBSD framework, which enables family firms worldwide to gather baseline data, track and transparently report on their sustainability performance.

Session themes:

  • How far have family businesses come in terms of SDG-aligned financial and sustainability reporting?
  • What are the implications of sustainability reporting for family businesses’ financing and building stronger supply chains?
  • What are the key barriers to better sustainability reporting, and why?
  • What role can the SIFB play in promoting sustainability reporting by family businesses?
