The World Investment Forum 2018

The World Investment Forum 2018 takes place in the Palais des Nations, Geneva, Switzerland, from Monday 22 October to Friday 26 October.

The 2018 Forum consists of over fifty events, including the Grand Opening, the Global Leaders Investment Summit, the Global Investment Game Changers Summit, ministerial roundtables, conferences, private sector-led sessions, Ted-style presentations, high-profile stakeholder roundtables, networking events, award ceremonies and an Investment Village.

Registration & Badge Collection

Registration is closed.

Upon arrival, accredited participants should visit the Security and Safety Service at the Pregny Gate to collect their identification badges.

We are expecting over 5000 people to attend the 2018 World Investment Forum! We therefore strongly advise you to pick up your badge as early as possible to avoid any delays on Monday or Tuesday.

Opening hours for early badge pick-up:
Friday 19 October, from 10:00 to 16:00
Saturday closed.
Sunday 21 October, from 13:00 to 18:00

Opening hours during the Forum:
Monday 22 October, from 8:00 to 19:00
Tuesday 23 to Friday 26 October, from 8:00 to 17:00

Please do not forget to bring your passport for identification.

Note: only Permanent Missions in Geneva can collect badges for delegations and only with a Note Verbal listing the members of the delegation.

For security reasons, the identification badge must be worn and visible to UNOG Security staff at all times while visiting the Forum.

Visa Requirements

Travel & Transportation

Traveling to Geneva

The Geneva Cointrin International Airport serves more than 50 European and international airlines. From the airport it only takes 6 minutes to reach the city center.

When you arrive at Geneva’s international airport, a free public transportation pass can be obtained in the baggage claim area, lasting 80 minutes. This will enable you to reach your hotel. Additionally, when you stay in a hotel you will receive a “Geneva Transport Card” free of charge. With this card, public transport in Geneva is free for the full duration of your stay.

From the airport by train

The airport railway station has direct access to the airport check-in and arrivals areas. All trains stop at the Cornavin Train Station (city center). Trains depart every 12 minutes in peak hours and the journey duration is 6 minutes.

From the airport by bus

Bus n°5 operates every 30 minutes between the airport and Cornavin Train Station. Journey duration: 20 minutes.

Geneva is also served by three railway stations, connecting the city to Europe’s railway network.

To the Palais des Nations

By tram or bus

Trams number 13 and 15, as well as buses 5, 8, 11, 14, 28, V, F, and Z serve the Place des Nations. Buses 8, 28, F, V and Z will take you directly to Pregny Gate (Appia stop), where the badge distribution and identification is located.

Accommodation options are available on the Geneva Tourism Office website. A list of hotels offering preferential rates in Geneva and the surrounding area can be found here.

We would advise that you make your hotel booking directly and as early as possible since hotels in Geneva can be very busy during this period.

Breastfeeding Facilities

A breastfeeding room is available on the third floor of the E building (Room E 3054-2) in the Palais des Nations (UN building). It is located behind Room XX and is equipped with two armchairs, a fridge, a changing table and a protective barrier by the window. The room can be used on a first come – first serve basis (no reservation).

A second breastfeeding room is located in the S building (room S036) next to the Medical Service.

Free WiFi

During your stay at the Palais de Nations you can access to free wifi by registering at the
UNCTAD-Public-WiFi network.

Geneva Weather

Average temperatures feature constant decrease in the city of Geneva during October.
High temperatures are initially around 18˚C (64.4˚F), dropping to around 12˚C (53.6˚F) by the end of October.

Low temperatures follow the similar trend, decreasing from around 9˚C (48.2˚F) to 5˚C (41˚F
In most cases, though, average daily temperatures remain within the 7˚C (44.6˚F) to 15˚C (59˚F) range.
