Past Editions of the World Investment Forum
Since its inauguration in 2008, the World Investment Forum has brought together thousands of high-level speakers and participants to discuss the most relevant, pressing and integral topics in the sustainable development investment arena. Previous World Investment Forums were held in Ghana (2008), China (2010), Qatar (2012) and Switzerland (2014), Qatar (2012), China (2010) and Ghana (2008).
- World Investment Forum 2014 hosted at the UN Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, linked investment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), creating a High-Level Action plan for Investing in the SDGs, along with the launch of other portals, reports, guides and platforms, recognizing the importance of this global platform for collaborative and united efforts worldwide.
- World Investment Forum 2012, held in Doha, Qatar, addressed the investment challenges and opportunities arising from emerging global economic governance structures and contributed to the development of policy options and partnerships for promoting sustainable investment to foster inclusive growth.
- World Investment Forum 2010 was held in Xiamen, China, and resolved to promote investment for sustainable development and helped better understand the emerging opportunities and challenges in the context of the post-crisis investment landscape.
- The inaugural World Investment Forum 2008, held in Accra, Ghana, focused on the future of foreign direct investment flows: where FDI is likely to come from and which sectors and regions will be the main targets of these flows.
